Specifying optimization settings for slices

You can specify unique optimization settings for each slice in a sliced document. For example, you might want to do this when one part of your graphic contains a photographic image best exported as a JPEG, while another part might be a solid area of white, which would be better compressed as a GIF. By drawing a slice over each part, you can set each part to export differently.

When you select a slice object on the Web Layer, the Optimize panel displays the settings for that slice.

To set optimization settings for a slice:

1 Select a slice object.
If slice objects are not visible, click the Show Hotspots and Slices button in the Toolbox. These buttons hide and show the Web Layer.

Hide Hotspots and Slices button

2 Enter optimization settings in the Optimize panel.
The selected slice is now set to be exported with the specified optimization settings.
